His practice combines archival montage, genre deconstruction, and metafictional narrative across films, books, and hybrid transmedia projects. He studied film history and film theory at ELTE University, Budapest. Péter has been making found footage films and experimental features since 2002. His films have been screened at festivals and venues such as: Berlin Critics' Week; International Film Festival Rotterdam; Tribeca Film Festival (New York); Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival; Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival; Torino Film Festival; goEast (Wiesbaden); Pesaro International Film Festival; Ann Arbor Film Festival; EXiS (Seoul); CROSSROADS (San Francisco);&nbsp; L’Etrange Festival (Paris); VideoEX (Zurich); FilmFestival Cottbus; La Cinémathèque Française (Paris); and The Kitchen (New York). His films have been written about in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Bulgarian, and Czech in publications such as Little White Lies, Filmmaker Magazine, Sight and Sound’s Best Video Essays series, Desistfilm, Millennium Film Journal&nbsp;and Iluminace, as well as in academic volumes published by Palgrave and Bloomsbury. He is also one of the editors of the Prizma film periodical. His first book on experimental cinema (A láthatatlan birodalom / The Invisible Empire) was published in 2016; since then, he has written eleven books on film history, including monographs on Steven Spielberg and Steven Soderbergh, as well as shorter monographs on found footage cinema and the history of American film. Lichter has published four crime novels to date, the first of which was nominated for the Margó Prize (awarded to the best debut author). Péter frequently collaborates with composer Ádám Márton Horváth, Bence Kovács-Vajda, sound designer Péter Benjámin Lukács, producer Dóra Nedeczky, poet Márió Z. Nemes, and artists, like Loránd Szécsény-Nagy and Bori Máté.
